Can a 12 yr. be forced visitation?

My 12 yr. old son is a wonderful young man, he is well rounded in every aspect of is life. Great student, loves sports and enjoys a health lifestyle. The problems is he just doesn't want anything to do with his father. He has good reason to feel the way he does. His father has been extremely violent thought his life, psychically as will as emotionally. He has no contact with him in three years nor does he want to but every six mouths I end up hiring my attorney to fight the same thing over and over again. My son is sick to death of playing this game of have to go to counseling, all because his father has mental issues. My question is when will my son have a voice in this whole matter! It saddens me that his whole world get tipped upside down each and everytime this happens. My question is can the courts force him to go if he refuses! I don't have a much faith in our local court system nor the friend of the court. They 're aware of his pattern and continue to let him play!
