How do i know how much sugar is in a japanese product?
I´m living in Japan for a year now and so far I do have a serious problem with finding out how much refined sugar there is in packaged products because there is no separated sugar display. In my home country Germany most of the times it´s displayed like this: "Carbohydrates x grams [of which sugars: y grams]" so one can easily see how much sugar there is in it, but you don´t have this in Japan. I was once addicted to sugar so I´m trying to avoid it like the plaque. Can I ume that you can deduce the amount of sugar from the place of 砂糖 in the ingredient display, so if it´s one of the first ingredients, it´s one of the ingredients that´s most in the product?
