Islam teaches the reverence of Jesus as 1 of the top 5 prophets, so why doesn't it agree with his teaching?

You must understand that the bible and the Qu'ran are quite different in what Jesus says. In the bible, Jesus tells that he is the son of god, which is the basis of Christianity of all forms. In Islam, he is more of a teacher and a miracle maker. In both books, Jesus preforms the exact same miracles except that he doesn't rise again in Islam. Islam and Christianity pray to the same god, even though they have separate names, so they really aren't that different then you think.
